Unless a specific wood type is selected, each order includes a mix of different hardwoods. We use 100% natural hardwood to craft all of our soap dishes.
Each soap dish is carefully hand-sanded on all edges, creating a smooth, soft, and elegant finish.
The mixed wood option may include a combination of ash, poplar, maple, beech, and cherry.
We offer the option to coat each wood soap dish with a food-safe mineral oil commonly used for cutting boards. This treatment enhances the natural wood grain and highlights the beauty of the hardwood.
Please note that mineral oil does not make the soap dish waterproof. Instead, it helps enrich the appearance of the wood and maintain its natural look over time.
Applying mineral oil will slightly darken the wood, giving the soap dish a richer and more pronounced finish.
All products made from natural wood require occasional maintenance. Because each wood soap dish is made from real hardwood, it may absorb moisture over time.
If the soap dish begins to curve or warp slightly, clean it thoroughly to remove any soap residue or buildup. This is also a good time to remove any soap scum.
Allow the soap dish to dry completely. Once dry, it should return to its normal shape. After drying, you may apply a small amount of mineral oil (such as cutting board oil) to help maintain the wood and enhance its appearance.
Some customers prefer to keep two soap dishes and rotate them, allowing one to dry while the other is in use.
Because natural wood may curve when exposed to moisture, this is where the name "Soap Dish with a Curve" comes from.
